All our bags are packed, we're ready to go....
We have an early morning (7:17 AM) flight tomorrow, which means Rich will insist we get to the airport at 4:00 AM (well, maybe not quite that early, but close to it).
No matter how you look at it though, it's going to be a long day.
Our route takes us to lovely Newark and from there we hop a direct flight to Rome. But the fun (or travel) doesn't stop there. Rich and I have to get ourselves from the Rome airport to the Rome train station (via the Metro, we hope) for a 12:00 PM train to Naples and from there we catch a Circumvesuviana train (a little commuter train) to Sorrento. Hopefully, we'll make Sorrento by 4:00 PM Wednesday afternoon. Let's see....that's about 27 hours without a whole lot of sleep. I'll let you know how we hold up.
Our plan is to spend a few days on the Amalfi Coast before renting a car on Saturday and heading east to Bari where we'll meet up with our Backgrounds tour on Sunday. We'll be bike riding south along Italy's Adriatic coastline from Sunday (10/21) through Friday (10/26), ending up in the town of Lecce, at the very bottom of the heel of Italy's boot. On Saturday, we'll again rent a car and leisurely make our way westward. Our plan is to stop in Salerno and make a side trip to Paestum, where there's supposed to be some fascinating Greek ruins. Then it's on up to Rome for a little sightseeing the last couple of days.
I'm hoping I'll have time each day to post some pictures and write a quick blog.
Arrivederci! Ci vediamo a novembre.
Have fun!! Also, where did you leave the ticket in the 4Runner?
